Expert speaker presentations - through real life experiences our speakers will give students the chance to hear about the challenges in designing new and better products for our society’s future, designing with new and smart materials, and designing for a more sustainable future.

Q&A session - interactive question and answer sessions will develop their knowledge and understanding of product design, technology, sustainability and ethics.

Prof. Brendan Walker

Brendan Walker is an experienced public speaker and broadcaster. Brendan is a true polymath. His expertise span art, design, science, technology, and engineering.   He has spoken at Tate Modern about his work, as well as delivered science and technology Christmas public lectures. He currently holds the post of Professor of Creative Industries at Middlesex University. 

Brendan is founder-director of Studio Go Go Limited – a 21st century ride design company supported by Innovate UK. He recently gave the keynote at the inaugural symposium of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions industry in Florida. He is also founder-director of Thrill Laboratory, and regularly features in character as “the Thrill Engineer”, which has included appearances on The One Show, Bang Goes The Theory and Blue Peter.  Brendan will bring his expertise to bring the science behind rollercoasters and theme park attractions to life for our Science LIVE! audience.

Workbook and Park Challenges

Our complementary workbooks are designed to be used as your group enjoy the Disney® Parks. The workbooks contain park challenges which encourage students to take a step back and critically appraise the resort from their subject perspective. These park challenges provide opportunity for problem solving, decision making as well as working together so that your students get the maximum from the their time at Disneyland® Paris.

Previous speaker: Dr. Zoe Laughlin

Dr Zoe Laughlin is an artist, engineer, material scientist and broadcaster. She’s co-founder and director of the Institute of Making at University College London. Her mission is to explore all aspects of how things are made, what they are made out of and how these materials have changed the world. Zoe’s work is all about art, craft, science and engineering of ‘stuff’.

Her qualifications include a PhD in Materials from the Division of Engineering at King’s College London and an MA in Scenography and Sculpture from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She’s a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts and has written a book entitled “Material Matters: New Materials in Design”.

Previous Facilitator: Dallas Campbell

Dallas is one of the most versatile and well-travelled factual presenters working in the industry.

He has filmed in some of the most extraordinary and challenging locations all over the world: sewer diving in Mexico City, abseiling off the world's tallest building in Dubai and filming Tim Peake’s rocket launch to the international space station.

Dallas started his presenting career on The Gadget Show (Channel 5) and Bang Goes The Theory (BBC1). Most recently, Dallas has presented Positive Energy (National Geographic) where he travelled the globe, with co-presenter Kari Byron, meeting the innovators that are creating new ways to power our world into the future. His debut book Ad Astra: An Illustrated Guide to Leaving the Planet was published 2017.

Dallas is an Honorary Fellow of the British Science Association and regularly judges their annual Young Scientist & Engineer of the Year awards.

Q&A Session

Our lively and interactive question and answer session gives the students control to ask the questions they want answers to.  All the speakers take to the stage to answer questions to provide different perspectives and to offer invaluable career advice from their own experience.
